I was diagnosed with PKU from birth I have 2 siblings who don’t have PKU so growing up I found it quite hard, I wasn’t so bad with the Medicen it was the diet that I found hard expecially when my brother and sister could eat what they wanted and as much as they wanted, going to junior school was hard as sometimes we would bake things and I wouldn’t be able to eat them people would always ask why and I used to get upset trying to always explain to everyone what was wrong with me my mom was really good when it came to my birthday party’s she’s would always bake me a cake and do her best, I used to go on a lot of trips with people from the hospital and other children with PKU so it was really nice being around people that understood and not get questioned what we where eating or drinking, the funniest thing about having PKU was my brother and sister used to love my cookies they always asked my mom if she would order some even tho I didn’t really like them but they helped me threw my diet and were a big support, I have 4 children 2 who are twins none off them have PKU diet while being pregnant was very hard as it is very restricted but also very worth it I’m proud to have PKU and be unique.
